The -F Word *covers mouth dramatically*

Yes! Two posts in one day! Who knows… it may be three. I keep trying to convince you guys I’m not in control of my thoughts. Well now I want to keep it simple and discuss…. feminism. *gasps* yes. the -F word that sends trembles through even the strongest people, but that’s where people have it confused. People equate feminism with man hating, she women who think that we can lift cars and fly or some other super human insane things.

Okay well if I put enough thought into it… I’m sure I could, but come on people! Feminism is simply believing EVERY person is equal regardless of race, gender, sexuality, etc. Although many believe that will never be possible… if we STOPPED thinking in terms of outward appearances maybe it could be. The same goes for women. We can’t one day say “I’m a woman treat me equal”, and then the next say “I’m a woman, treat me as such” Sorry I’m all for contradictions, but let’s put that one back in the top drawer and close it back, lock it, flush the key, and never go look for it again.

Feminism is not about hating men. In fact I appreciate our men. I appreciate what they do for us. I completely agree we should be equal across ALL spectrums but I must say I appreciate my black men for raising black women to believe they are just as equal as every other woman because society does not equate them as such.

Now, next time you drop the -F bomb… let’s not picture “she-man men haters” but let’s picture everybody of all races, genders, and sexualities holding hands and singing kumbuyah! Pretty nice image right??

Until next time guys 🙂 Nikki Ouuuuuut 🙂

A Mash-Up of Hello’s!

Hello there!

My name is Kwanesia (Qu-Knee-See-Ah), but I’m affectionately called Nikki or Nesi by those closest to me. You probably scrolled past my blog in lieu of something else, but I hope *crosses fingers* I will not disappoint you. Of course every blog’s first post is an introduction of the blogger correct? Well I’m going to try and knock that out of the way and get to the many purposes behind this blog here.

So besides my name I haven’t given you much to go on huh? I’m currently a 21 year old senior at Valdosta State University. I’m getting my Bachelors in Speech Communication with an emphasis in Public Relations. I graduate May 9, 2015 I honestly love everything about my major and I grow to love it more every single day. I’m a member of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority Incorporated and have been since April 5, 2013.

Personality wise, I’m an optimist. The definition of one. I see the best in everyone, and I think that’s a great thing! I know that everyone has way more good in them than bad, some just have a harder time tapping into it than others. I also pride myself on being a feminist, and pro-equal rights. Men before you go clicking pages on me, feminism does not mean man hating, it means having the exact same rights. I’ll surely touch on the topic more in future blog posts!

I’m a 6’2 plus size woman, which brings me to the title of Through Amazon Living Lens, or TALL. Now I pride myself on being confident with my size and not worrying about what anyone says about me. Anyone who sees me sees a smile on my face at least 98% of the time! I’m a lover of inspirational quotes and poetry, some of which I’m also sure I’ll be sharing from time to time!

Now the purpose behind this blog. WHEW! Let’s see… I am an opinionated woman. That might even be an understatement. I am starting this blog to state my opinions on things going on in the world from entertainment, to education, to fashion, to sports. A good bit of what I will base that on however is the image that it portrays. I am a strong believer in the fact that the media plays a huge role in the way that people think especially in the minds of generation Y. When I refer to the media that means TV, radio, books, and even social media.

It may be controversial to some, but I hope that you’ll comment and that the discussions can begin!! I love hearing opinions from others especially all over the world.

Thank you again for looking at things Through Amazon Living Lens…. and joining me as I build my brand…. one smile at a time!
